In celebration of World Fisheries Day (November 21), ÎÛµ¼º½¸£ÀûÍøÖ· is proud to relaunch our annual Environmental Grant to help highlight the importance of maintaining productive fisheries and a healthy ocean ecosystem.
Our industry is highly dependent on a healthy environment, so it’s imperative that we all do our bit to look after it.
ÎÛµ¼º½¸£ÀûÍøÖ· understands it can be a challenge to reduce the impact of your fishing or aquaculture activities on the environment. That's why we are proud to offer a grant of up to AU$10,000 to any individual or group of primary producers who are seeking to improve their environmental practices.
It could be a change to your fishing methods and equipment that reduces the impact on the environment and makes catching more effective. Or perhaps you want to implement changes in your facilities to reduce water-use, power, plastics or carbon emissions.
Tell us about a project you would like to undertake that will have a positive impact on the environment by downloading the application form .
Applications close on Monday October 31st, 2022. A selection panel comprised of ÎÛµ¼º½¸£ÀûÍøÖ· and OceanWatch Australia representatives will then select the winner(s) based on answers provided in the application.
The winner(s) of the grant will be announced on World Fisheries Day.
Celebrated on 21 November each year, World Fisheries Day brings together fishing communities and highlights the ongoing innovation and hardworking people that ensure a sustainable seafood supply for future generations.
